Individual plot synopsis

I was inspired to create a film trailer based on the adventure genre. Films such as The Maze Runner and The Hunger Games inspired my idea of basing my trailer on survival. I feel that my ideas for my trailer challenge my target audience who are 17-25 and both genders and makes them think about what lengths they would go to in order to survive.

Sarah lives the typical life of a 17 year old girl. She wakes up to her alarm every morning at 6:30am to get ready for school, comes home to do her homework and works her Saturday job at Next. Most nights she would argue with her parents believing that she is always right. Sarah wants to prove to her parents that she is independent and doesn't need help from anybody. That night Sarah went to bed at 10:30pm, the same as she always does. However, she does not know what tomorrow will bring. Sarah's alarm goes off at 6:30am, everything seems normal. She gets up from her bed to open her curtains. The roads are quiet, more silent than usual, her street is usually busy with cars leaving for work. Sarah continues getting ready for school, she notices that her parents have not called her for breakfast or even poked their heads round her bedroom door to say "Good morning honey". Sarah leaves her bedroom to find her parents, she looks around the entire house and there is nobody to be seen. Sarah opens the front door to find her parents cars are still parked in the drive. Along with the rest of the street. She starts to feel uncomfortable as she hears a scream in the distance, out of fear Sarah runs back inside.

Sarah leaves her house aiming to find someone, anyone she can. Wifi is down and her phone signal is low. She feels trapped, alone and scared. After searching what feels like the entire town she gives in, Sarah runs low on energy, she has no water and no food and she is too far away from her house to turn back. Through the reflection of a shop window Sarah sees a figure behind her, looking over her shoulder. It looks like a zombie, all pale and covered in blood. Sarah avoids contact and runs for her life, trying to find somewhere safe to hide. As Sarah is running, she sees in the distance that she is approaching a group of zombies. Out of nowhere she gets pulled into a small, narrow and dark alley way. As she looks up expecting to see a zombie she sees Noah, the popular boy in her year. They think that they are both the only 'survivors'. After the group pass the alleyway, Sarah and Noah make a plan and run. With no food or water, their only way to restore their energy is to steal from a shop nearby. The doors are smashed and the shop is a mess. Noah fills his rucksack with bottles of water, chocolate and bananas. After hiding and trying to survive for 3 days, Noah and Sarah became close. Sarah has always had a crush on Noah.

The streets are neglected and Noah and Sarah are tired of running. As they walk down the streets through town, Sarah hears a buzzing sound. They both come to a holt and start looking around. They stand back to back, with no energy they hold hands and close their eyes. They both open their eyes on the count of three to see zombies crowding them. They get closer and closer when suddenly they disappear. Still holding hands Sarah and Noah open their eyes to see there is nothing, nothing at all, no zombies, no humans, just the two of them. Sarah jumps at the sound of a high pitch squeaking sound. Through a microphone located close by a voice appears. They are told it was all a test. Scientists and researchers were playing the ultimate test for their project to see if teenagers would be able to survive an apocalypse or natural disaster if they had no adults around to guide them. The zombies were projected from hidden monitors to appear real and allow Sarah and Noah to believe they were actually there. Sarah and Noah were chosen as the dummies by their parents as they were constantly telling their parents they want to be more independent.
