Creating Intertitles
The intertitles 'friends or frenemies' is used to leave the viewers asking questions such as Is the friendship group breaking down? or Who is the enemy?. The words 'ends' and enemies' is underlined and in the blue Facebook colour as we felt that 'ends' could suggest the ending of a friendship and 'enemies' suggests that secrets can have a significant impact on friendships. I put the words 'ends' and 'enemies' is the Facebook blue colour as it links in well with the background of the intertitles and shows more of a connection between the text and the background.
Creating the Film Title 'Disconnected'
I was also given the role of creating the film title for our film trailer 'Disconnected'. As our film trailer is largely based on social media we felt it would be suitable to have a film title that would clearly represent social media and one of the most popular social media sites, Facebook. To ensure the title clearly looked like a Facebook font I downloaded the Facebook font to my laptop. This allowed me to use the correct font and it allowed others to recognise the social media platform we are targeting. The '#' at the start of our title is popular within social media, we decided to use the hashtag to create more of an interest for our target audience of 15-20 year olds. The word 'disconnected' also holds the word 'connect'. 'Connect' is put in italics to show that the title can be interpreted in 2 ways. I also put the word 'connect' in Facebook blue to show the link between social media. The title 'disconnected' allows the audience to consider how friends connect throughout the trailer and leaves them asking questions such as What causes the friends to disconnect?
5/5 key images from our group animatic
By having the characters Katie, Noah and Jake all stood next to each other in the final shot shows that one of Sarah's 'best friends' has betrayed her in the worst way as they have intentionally acted as the anonymous user to reveal the negative truth and betrayal of her boyfriend and best friend. One of Sarah's friends makes out to be the victim when the real victim was Sarah. This shows that some people in society crave attention and feel the need to create false identities to expose their secrets and grab the attention of others. This shot also leaves the audience wanting to know more and who the anonymous user is.

The picture of the group chat shows that this is a common way of communication for teenagers as it is seen as a more interactive way of talking to each other rather than sending text messages.
The image used in the group chat shows Noah looking awkward, Jake looking angry, Katie looking shocked and Sarah looking hurt. This shot also shows the embarrassment, awkwardness and unseen side of social media and 'friendship' groups. Using oovoo challenges the way that people can hide behind their computers and phones when they are either acting as a bully or verbally abusing others. This is because each person is seen in the oovoo call as they have access to webcams. This allows the characters to see each others emotions and reactions to the accusations and shocking truth.
3/5 key images from our group animatic
I feel that this is one of the most important images in out film trailer. This message shows that the character Sarah is faced with the horrible reality that her boyfriend, Jake has cheated on her with her best friend. Sarah's two best friends have betrayed her and gone behind her back. This shot shows where the friendship group starts to disconnect as they start accusing each other of being the Anonymous user. These are common issues that teenagers go through so I feel that this is a realistic interpretation of how friendships can be broken.
2/5 key images from our group animatic
I feel that this image represents the daily lives of teenagers and their friendship groups. This shot reflects the groups friendship and a form of social media they use to communicate on a daily basis.
1/5 Key images from our group animatic
I feel that this image is important to our animatic as it shows happy memories of Sarah and Katie's friendship. I feel that it is important to show this as they appear to represent best friends and the side of friendship that is always noticed by their friends and family. We decided to start with this image as it allows the audience to meet the two female characters and understand their roles in the trailer as being best friends. We decided to use two female characters that do not stereotypically look like they would be best friends. I have watched many film trailers that have the 'popular' girl and the girl who is more of a tomboy, usually these characters are enemies as the 'popular' girl feels she has a higher authority than the tomboy. We decided to challenge this as we decided that we would make our 'popular' girl and the tomboy play best friends.

In Abergavenny, sixth form students Sarah, Jake, Katie and Noah are best friends, living typical lives of 17 year olds. They spend both their social and school lives together, attending house parties and even sticking together during detentions after school. The friends are in a group chat, planning a night out for Noah’s 18th birthday, making comments about how he’ll be getting served alcohol for the rest of them as they will still be underage. Typical of youngsters, they start discussing humorous drunken stories and send embarrassing photos of each other into the group chat which they all laugh about. The discussion continues and an ‘Anonymous’ user enters the group chat, however, the group are unaware of this. Photos are shared on a Facebook page of Sarah and Jake holding hands and cuddling in public. However, they’re unaware of this until Noah discovers them on an unusual account that had recently added him. Noah sends the photos to the group chat and Sarah is embarrassed and accuses Jake of uploading them. Jake denies it and the group become uncomfortable that someone has been taking photos of them and posting them online. Are you interested in social media?
